Lower power use means higher rates
SDG&E says it must spread equipment costs among customers; company now seeking an increase of nearly $1 billion over four years

San Diego Gas & Electric, which is asking for a rate increase totaling nearly $1 billion over four years, already has among the highest electricity rates in the country.

The company says it’s important to look at rates in context. People in San Diego use less electricity per household than almost anyone else in the country.

And that means that our electric bills are well below the national average.
